BLIM – Annie Nightingale Show BBC Radio 1 – 8.6.2003

BLIM (Boy Lost In Music) aka Gervase E. Cooke is a classically trained musician and was at the forefront of the early Nu Skool Breaks scene back in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s with his unique style that really pushed Nu SKool Breaks forward at the very beginning of the genre. He had quite a few releases on Rennie Pilgrem’s label TCR along with other artists such as Chris Carter, General Midi, Elite Force and JDS to name a few. This mix was recorded for Annie Nightingale and her breakbeat show at the time known as Annie On One, One referring to the radio station BBC Radio 1.

Rennie Pilgrem Vs BLIM – LIVE @ Breakspoll – 25.2.2005

Two of the heavy weight artists that took the breaks movement to the next level would have to be Rennie Pilgrem and BLIM. Rennie considered the godfather of breaks and BLIM with his own unique style as a producer. Both artists providing various anthems over the years and both pushing the sound of breaks to the masses. Where BLIM is these days i do not know but Rennie is back in the studio producing a new album during the lockdown and believe it or not he is releasing it on the legendary TCR Records.

This mix was recorded live at the Breakspoll Awards back in 2005 and it has Rennie & BLIM going back to back with also the vocal talents of MC Chickaboo.

2001 was a good year for the Breaks scene, the beginnings of the highly followed Nu Skool breaks era and the emerging of familiar artists such as Rennie Pilgrem and BLIM. This set was recoreded LIVE at Groovetech Radio back in January of 2001 and showcases a lot of tunes from TCR (Thursday Club Recordings) part of which Rennie Pilgrem was the label boss and BLIM (a classically trained musician) one of it’s top artists at the time. Hope you enjoy this glimpse back into the past !
