Evil Nine are an English DJ/Producer duo comprising of members Tom Beaufoy and Patrick Pardy. Gaining recognition after signing to Adam Freelands label Marine Parade in the early 2000’s their unique sound gathered a high following and had a very influential effect in the early Nuskool Breaks scene as well as early influences on the later Tech Funk genre.

This mix is from 2004 was made for Australia’s Triple J Radio and it’s Saturday night weekly show Mix Up.

Elite Force aka Simon Shackleton is a well established artist in his own right. With chart topping tracks under the guise of Lunatic Calm to music for films an TV shows to his professional music production and DJ career of Elite Force. He was/is a leader in the Breaks and Tech Funk genre.

This mix was recorded LIVE at Urban Break 2 (Spain) back in 2007. You probably have never heard this DJ set before, thanks to Jaime fo the audio file.

LBJ – Promo Mix May 2007

 

 

LBJ (Lazy Bones Jones) aka DJ Jonas Verwijnen Started his musical career playing in several Helsinki bands and began his LBJ electronic music project back in 1998. LBJ’s style was a unique mix of live instruments, Finnish vocals, powerful beats huge, bass and dub breaks, and awesome atmospherics, all combing into a new sound that was refreshingly different from the normal London breaks sound at that time.

LBJ had also played with DJ’s including Rennie Pilgrem, Krafty Kuts, Vini (RIP), Stanton Warriors, Jay Cunning, Soto, Chris Carter, Databass, Atomic Hooligan, Freq Nasty, Kraymon, Evil 9, Friendly, and Iain Taylor.

This DJ mix is more of a Tech Funk influenced mix with some great breaks layed on top.

What ever happened to Plaza De Funk ?

Italian by birth Plaza De Funk moved to London in 2005 releasing award-winning records and receiving huge support from the likes of Fatboy Slim, Elite Force, Plump DJs, Rico Tubbs & Black Noise. In 2008 he walked away from Breakspoll with the award of Best Breakthrough Producer but where is he now ? His last post on Facebook post was in 2014.

The Rogue Element – Promo Mix December 2007

 

 

The Rogue Element were a DJ/Producer duo haling from the UK consisting of members Ben Medcalf and James Tomlinson. Ben, the original member of The Rogue Element certainly needs no introduction. An international DJ, Breakspoll award winning producer and has released on labels such as Skint, Exceptional and Fat Records. He has remixed and collaborated for the likes of Fat Boy Slim, Lee Coombs, Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors, Soul of Man and the list goes on.

James known to others as Call Me T is a solo artist in his own right. Both were at the top of the scene when the Tech Funk Breakbeat genre was at it’s height and released a lot of music through the now defunct LOT49 label.
